We're all going to learn a major truth really soon.  It's this.  In Georgia, aided by the US, Saakashvili attacked South Osetia.  With US advisors right alongside his troops he killed thousands of unarmed, civilian South Osetians. 

Many thousands more escaped the attack by fleeing to Russia.   Since Caucasian Russians were being killed, the Russians invaded Georgia to help defend them. 

But... Saakashvili paid over 800,000 to American lobbyist Randy Scheunemann so the right 'spin' was given to the American media.  So now all of us think Russia was the aggressor, not Saakashvili.  Sheunemann succeeded, continuing his 'spin' even while head Foreign Affairs advisor for the  McCain campaign.

What is happening?  The US war machine is trying to ring Russia with missiles, using former Soviet Block states for its bases.  The US is pushing to bring Georgia into NATO right away so other NATO allies will be obligated to protect Georgia in case of any attack.  Now you know why Russia hates Bush, and the only message Obama got from Medvedev on his election victory was 'if you put missiles in Poland, we'll put them along our European border.'

There's a very large gas pipeline from Russia that serves Europe.  NATO will not allow Georgia to join because it does not want problems with Russia.  And the US is crazy to push them into this position of tension and hostility.  The US is not being a good World Citizen. 

NATO was establilshed during the Cold War to protect Europe from the old Soviet Union.  Since the old Soviet Union no longer exists, NATO needs to go away too.
